Telecommunications

MultiQuest 900 (Nationwide 900 Number Telecommunications Service)

Designed the architecture and engineered systems for a nationwide 900 number service supporting high traffic volume and advanced feature functionality. The systems architecture addressed multi-disciplinary issues associated with the offering, including technical, business, customer perception, legal, and social implications. A key accomplishment, despite conflicting constraints and significant limitations, was the successful design of a system that balanced the needs of all stakeholders.

Network Database Projects

Performed systems engineering, designed systems architecture and planned network implementation activities to support the network databases of a nationwide telecommunication system. A notable accomplishment was the creation of new services and new market opportunities. This resulted from implementing new service features and the customization of existing database architectures, including a video database, redundant adjunct database architecture and VPN. Conducted studies of network enhancement and modification to address changed market conditions and demands.

Interactive Voice Response and Messaging

Performed systems engineering, designed systems architecture and planned network implementation activities to support Interactive Voice Response and Messaging functionality in the telecommunication network and CPEs. Conducted studies of customer and market needs, and New Product Development studies for IVR adjunct solutions. Planned Voice Activated Dialing functionality as well as ATM/Broadband implementation in the network to support IVR and Messaging applications.

Predictive Churn Modeling and Direct Marketing

Developed and implemented a predictive modeling solution for a major provider of wireless services. It was instrumental in identifying high value customers and addressing the problem of high churn/attrition in the wireless business. Developed market size and distribution estimates to support the nationwide launch of the Digital PCS service by a leading provider of Wireless Services.

Business Information, Analysis and Planning for Wireless

Delivered best-in-class operating margins by leading analytical initiatives in profitability modeling, analysis of rate plans and programs, revenue churn analysis and financial benchmarking. Experienced in developing operating budgets, capital budgets for network capacity and quality and employee incentive programs. Skilled in negotiating supplier contracts, and management agreements for partnerships and joint ventures.

Information Technology

Search Engine Dashboard

Data analysis, ETL (Extract-Transfer-Load) processing and display of operational parameters in a dashboard for a major search engine.

Dropship Management

Designed and developed an E-commerce system incorporating dropship supply chain management. Requirements planning and UI design for dropship self service management for a major retailer.

INFORM - S

Developed systems engineering specifications and designed the architecture for a nationwide transportation tracking system, incorporating technical and business modeling activities. The architecture included the design of a distributed adjunct based system, supporting a low cost user terminal and CPE equipment configuration and a network based support environment for billing, network management and customer interface. The project also included recommendation and support for appropriate hardware and software, including OS and database, to build such a system.

Life Sciences

Laboratory Information Management System design & deployment

Managed the design, implementation, deployment and operations of a 21 CFR Part 11 validated Laboratory Information Management System for a multi-country, multi-laboratory HIV vaccine sample tracking system. Resolved unique challenges such as streamlining the operating processes for following established SDLC processes, ensuring on-time, on-budget deployment, ensuring long term operational stability, defining system evolution roadmap, and coordinating the needs of stakeholders from various disciplines.

Clinical Protocol Data Management

Managed the design and implementation of the protocol data to database schema, UI design and interface to third party clinical trial systems. Developed techniques for reconciliation of patient acquisition data sets to create analysis data sets, creation of reports for drug safety and efficacy analysis and clinical study reports for submission to FDA.

Safety and Emergency Response

Automated Emergency Response System

Developed and implemented a user-friendly system to collect and display safety related features and emergency response solutions for the BART transportation system of San Francisco. It was designed to support quick and reliable decision making by the central control operators of the system in case of emergencies such as fire or earthquakes.

Safety Assessment and Management of Chemical Plants

Designed and developed a software based system to assess and provide critical safety information to chemical plant operators in case of hazardous situations in the factory such as chemical spills, chemical releases into the atmosphere, or explosions. As part of the effort, we developed mathematical models representing point and continuous source release models, dispersion mechanisms in the environment, and database of chemical and physical properties of chemicals. The system uses menu driven screens to collect relevant data and graphically displays the results of computations and recommended mitigative actions.

Business Development and Strategic Planning

Predictive Modeling & CRM

Analyzed customer data and the modeling of customer behavior to predict customer attrition, identify high value customers and opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell to customers. Developed and implemented a predictive modeling solution to address the problem of customer attrition for a national wireless service provider. The resulting scored customer database was used in direct marketing programs to improve customer retention.

Database Marketing

Developed customer databases, customer and prospect list generation and analysis of direct marketing response data. Using geodemographic, market research and survey data estimated the size and distribution of prospect/target markets for direct marketing programs. Provided market analysis that enabled overall resource planning, estimating inventory, customer service and other requirements for the successful nationwide launch of the Digital PCS product by a leading provider of telecommunication services

Business Planning

Developed operational and capital budgets that help accomplish the goals and objectives of the business and produced reports such as monthly/quarterly dashboards and key performance indicators. Enabled best in class operating margins and financial performance in the wireless business through tracking, oversight and timely analysis of revenues, costs, risks, variances and new opportunities.

Profitability Modeling

Developed multi-dimensional models that provide useful and reliable estimates of the profitability of various business elements including sales channel, product line, service offering and customer segment. Using profitability modeling developed financial analysis of rate plans in the wireless business.

Competitive Benchmarking

Identified best practices and industry standards for both the overall business and different functional areas such as finance, marketing, sales, human resources, IT, call center and customer service. Formulated metrics and conduct metric and process oriented benchmarking both internal and external. Implemented a comprehensive financial benchmarking project for a wireless company that resulted in significant reductions in operating inefficiencies and produced best-in-class operating margins.

Strategy Analysis & Planning

Developed and implementing plans, policies and programs that are aligned with the stated mission, goals and objectives of the company, valuation analysis for the mergers, acquisitions and make/buy decisions. Developed and implemented an operating model for a joint venture in the wireless business. Helped develop and implement a successful customer migration strategy from analog to digital service in the wireless business.
