MOHAN VENKATARAMANA
Dr. Mohan Venkataramana is a passionate serial entrepreneur and the founder and president of
Syntonix Inc. His company is dedicated to providing technology research and development (R&D)
and business strategy solutions, with a commitment to transforming innovative ideas into marketable
products. Mohan understands the challenges that entrepreneurs face and strives to nurture R&D
ventures in collaboration with others who share a similar vision. With his extensive experience
across a range of sectors—including Life Sciences and Healthcare, Clean Energy, Retail Services,
Telecommunications, Software and Enterprise Solutions, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning,
Big Data, Cloud Computing, and Mobile Solutions—he seeks not only to identify current trends but
also to establish the paths toward future technological advancements.
Mohan earned his B.Tech. degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras, an M.S. in Energy
Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT.
His decade-long experience at AT&T Bell Labs was marked by significant achievements, including the
launch of the MultiQuest Telecommunication Service, which became a crucial revenue stream for the
company. Along the way, he has generously shared his expertise as a consultant for organizations
such as Microsoft, Amazon, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Innerscope, Cigna Healthcare,
Caltech, and Global Classroom, helping them navigate various projects. Currently, he is focused on
launching startups that harness emerging AI and ML technologies in healthcare and biosciences,
while also engaging in large-scale collaborations in energy and semiconductor projects.
Mohan’s genuine passion for entrepreneurship extends to mentoring countless students and
colleagues who aspire to create their own startups. His years of experience in mentoring
MBA students at Seattle University, Health Innovators (a nonprofit), and the Cambridge
Innovation Center (CIC) have fueled his dedication to helping others succeed. He has
designed and taught a course titled “Evidence-Based Entrepreneurship in Healthcare,”
facilitating ideation and brainstorming sessions to spark creativity and innovation
among his students. As an Educational Counselor for MIT, he has also guided aspiring
students through the application process, offering support and encouragement every
step of the way.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mohan founded Experteze, a nonprofit initiative
aimed at inspiring and empowering students worldwide to prepare for careers in scientific
research and development in bioinformatics, systems biology, and related biosciences, as well
as other STEM fields. He has taught advanced bioinformatics, artificial intelligence,
data science, and advanced computing, passionately guiding students in exploring their
interests and aspirations in scientific research.
Before establishing Experteze, Mohan co-founded two nonprofit organizations: the India
Rural Community Projects Initiative (IRCPI), which identifies opportunities for introducing
new technology to support rural development in energy and healthcare, and the Seattle
Institute for Peace Studies, which promotes peaceful conflict resolution methods for
individuals of all ages. His commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others
shines through in everything he does.
